The Elusive Photographer of the stars Harvey White

Again, unfortunately, there is not much I could find on this great photographer either.  If anyone has any information please contact me.

It appears that White did some wonderful glamour shots of the stars, many of beauty Jean Harlow, among others.  Apparently, he was--at one time--being considered to take over for Hurrell for a short time by MGM.  He was groomed by doing the photos that appear here of Harlow but not much else survives.  Ted Allan went on to be MGM's next great photographer.

Here are some examples of his work:

Jean Harlow

Franchot Tone

Johnny Weissmuller

Lillian Harvey

Myrna Loy

Robert Montgomery

  1. in Mark Viera's book, "George Hurrell n Hollywood", Hurrell is very complimentary about White but said was an extremely severe alcoholic, leading to his firing by Mayer.
